howdy,
I'm bringing an installation to the playa and in past years have resorted to just using solar patio lights, which are nice because they turn themselves on (& are solar) but aren't very bright.
I've seen some folks with bright LED setups w/ battery power--does anyone know a good source of playa art lighting like this?
Any ideas would be gretly appreciated.
Thanks!

Check out Jewel's posting on the Brane tribe regarding LED lights. She did a lot of research and got some great information from a guy who participates in the Oregon Country Fair. This link hopefully will take you there, if not, then check out the Brane's current postings.

Good luck with your project on the playa...

Re: battery powered art lighting question...
Sat, February 23, 2008 - 5:12 PMWow, a single RV / Marine 12 volt battery could run a bunch of these 4 and 8 LED lights for many nights before recharging back at camp. Lot's of colors and UV blacklight too!

Wedge bases can be found at most auto parts stores or solder wire leads straight to the light.
Got more links over here for batteries and low power / high output lighting
