i am working on a large sculpture as part of my theme camp this year, and really need for it to be lit from within. i would rather it NOT be run on a generator- would prefer solar. if anybody has a little energy and knowledge to spare, i would much appreciate it- would love to chat and tell you further about my design.
thanks!

Dang, should have tried the links first. Home despot links get corrupted:

go to the site or store and check these out:

    www.homedepot.com/prel80/HD...pg_diy.jsp

    search on "solar"

Amber path lights are the least expensive, but give off less light than white LED's:

    Hampton Bay
4-Pack Plastic Solar Stake with Amber Light in Black Finish
    Model 79749

    Price: $18.98/pkg

These white LED path lights also come in black for $49:

    Hampton Bay
(Pkg Of 6) 3-Tier Brushed Aluminum Metal Soft Glow Solar Lights
    Model 79330

Single super bright white led provides more light than standard solar lights. Siemens solar cell with voltage multiplier. Rechargeable ni-cd batteries included.

    Store SKU # 445291
    Internet # 162173
    Catalog # 100094795

    Price: $59.00/pkg

These LED solar spot lights are interesting. Might work well inside your sculpture, with the panel on the outside:

    Malibu
Solar floodlight kit with three solar floods
    Model LZ413A

The Solar floodlight kit with three solar floods is easy to install. It is great for backlighting, uplighting, or spotlighting.

    • Single Solar panel
    • Super bright 3 LEDs
    • Each flood has 20 feet lead so you can place the solar panel in the sun and fixtures under trees and bushes
    • Solar Powered

    Store SKU # 129731
    Internet # 168421
    Catalog # 100098863

These are very cool color changing solar lights:

    Hampton Bay

2 Pack Floating Solar Pool Lights. Multi-Color Super Bright LED Light. Red, Blue, Green Tri Color LED, with Auto-Cycle Circuit. Gradually changes color automatically. • Ooh! I can offer some tips on adding solar pathlites to sculptures-- in my opinion, it's a great way to get bang for your buck, and you don't have to be an electronics whiz to set the whole thing up (I myself am a bit intimidated by 12-volt batteries and expensive big panels).

Red's tip about soldering some longer wire onto the LED in the pathlite is spot-on. I've done several lantern-type projects using the 'guts' from a pathlight. Upside is electrical simplicity (since the circuit is pre-made, and easy to cut apart into component bits and reattach to get the panel and light configured in the right places). Downside is you have one LED per tiny panel, so you'll have to get a lot of them to get a lot of light in your sculpture.

Another great resource from the AEZ that you can't get to from our main page is our Wiki:
    www.ae-zone.org/dokuwiki/doku.php

I've got some pics on my profile of some SUNflowers that I made using this part:
    www.allelectronics.com/cgi-bi...S_.html

Hope that helps! Send me a message if you would like more help.
